At the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) students have a choice of on-campus housing options. The newest on-campus residences are Laurel Village and Chaparral Village. These two complexes offer apartment-style living with a choice of either two or four private bedrooms in an apartment with a living room and a kitchenette with a microwave, sink and full-size refrigerator (no stove/oven). These complexes are owned and managed by UTSA and residents are required to purchase meal plans.
Campus Living Villages (CLV), a privately owned company, owns and operates both Chisholm Hall and University Oaks pursuant to a long-term, ground lease with the University. A student choosing one of these options is contracting with a private company (CLV), not the University.
Chisholm Hall is a traditional style residence hall in which two students share a double occupancy room with an attached private bath. University Oaks is a large apartment complex with a variety of floor plans, all of which have full kitchens (including stove/oven). Chisholm Hall is conveniently located next to the Road Runner Café. Residents of these two properties are not required to purchase meal plans.
The properties owned and managed by CLV operate under different contractual agreements than those owned and managed by UTSA and prospective residents are encouraged to carefully consider the specific obligations of the legal agreement they choose. For example, CLV requires 45 days advance written notice of the specific date by which you will leave, even if you intend to leave at the end of the lease, in order for you to not be charged a $150.00 Improper Notice Fee.
