Programming & Application Support

The Office of Information Technology offers programming and application support for programs such as BANNER, Appworx and DEFINE.

Submit a programing request for assistance

To get an idea of what a programming request can do for your department, read the case studies below:

Case 1

Need: Advisors needed a way to view student TSI status and testing information without the ability to change the data to ensure data remains accurate.

Solution: The Application Development and Support team created a new form within the BANNER system that displays all the information an advisor needs to assist students without the ability to change the information.

Case 2

Need: Users needed to access BANNER student account information (charges, payments and financial aid) into the DEFINE accounting system in order to administer checks for overages or left-over aid.

Solution: The Application Development and Support group created a batch process that runs nightly to transfer students account data and financial aid data from BANNER to DEFINE. The group also created a batch process on the DEFINE system to take the data file transferred and create a document in the DEFINE system for approvals to post into the proper accounts.

Case 3

Need: The UTSA Parking and Transportation department purchased a new parking-system software application and needed to import student and employee information into the new system. They wanted students and employees to be able to view, request and pay for parking permits or citations through a web-based interface.

Solution: The Application Development and Support team created a batch process that runs nightly to load student and employee information into the parking system. The programming team also built a web-based application within the ASAP system for students and employees to request, purchase and view parking permits or parking citations.
