Applications accepted now for UTSA Summer Law School Preparation Academy

Share this Story(Feb. 9, 2012) -- The UTSA Institute for Law and Public Affairs, sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Studies, is accepting applications for the 2012 UTSA Summer Law School Preparation Academy (SLSPA). The deadline for completed applications is March 23 for early review and admission, and April 2 for review and admission based on availability. The lauded SLSPA is a premier pre-law program designed to increase the number of Texas students who successfully gain admission to and excel in quality law schools. If you are interested in attending law school, this program is for you.
The SLSPA program offers a variety of rigorous undergraduate courses to prepare students for law school and the LSAT. Students can earn 12 credit hours through the summer program. In partnership with the University of Texas at Austin School of Law, award-winning UTSA faculty members have designed courses that attempt to hone students' analytical, critical-reading and writing skills.
SLSPA students attend seminars presented by law school deans, directors of admissions and professors from every law school in Texas and many from across the country. Experts discuss ways to build a successful law school application, write a personal statement, apply for scholarships, and secure financial aid. Distinguished law school professors present seminars for SLSPA students to illuminate the law school experience.
The institute confers the UTSA Certificate in Legal Reasoning upon students who successfully complete 12 credit hours of designated coursework. Students can apply during their sophomore, junior or senior years and take the SLSPA across either one or two summers. Enrollment is by admission following application reviews. SLSPA students have been accepted into more than 150 law schools across the country.

Applications must be submitted by the respective deadlines listed above even without a letter of reference, which can follow. An SLSPA representative will contact the recommenders.
