Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in General Business

The Bachelor of Business Administration degree in General Business is an interdisciplinary program within the College of Business. The minimum number of semester credit hours for this degree is 120, at least 39 of which must be at the upper-division level.

All candidates seeking this degree must fulfill the Core Curriculum requirements, the Common Body of Knowledge requirements, and the degree requirements, which are listed below.

Core Curriculum requirements: Students seeking the Bachelor of Business Administration degree in General Business must fulfill University Core Curriculum requirements in the same manner as other students. The courses listed in the table below satisfy both degree requirements and Core Curriculum requirements; however, if these courses are taken to satisfy both requirements, then students may need to take additional courses in order to meet the minimum number of semester credit hours required for this degree. For a complete listing of courses that satisfy the Core Curriculum requirements see pages 5-9 of this catalog.

English Rhetoric/Composition (6 semester credit hours)
All students must take the following six hours to meet this core requirement:

MAT 1033 Algebra with Calculus for Business

Natural Sciences

Science (6 semester credit hours)
Three hours from Level One and three hours from Level Two under the appropriate sections in the list of core courses will satisfy this core requirement.

Humanities & Visual and Performing Arts

Literature (3 semester credit hours)
Any three hours listed under this section in the list of core courses will satisfy this core requirement.

The Arts (3 semester credit hours)
Any three hours listed under this section in the list of core courses will satisfy this core requirement.

Social and Behavioral Sciences

United States History and Diversity (6 semester credit hours)
Any six hours listed under this section in the list of core courses will satisfy this core requirement.

Political Science (6 semester credit hours)
POL 1013 Introduction to American Politics, plus three additional hours listed under this section in the list of core courses will satisfy this core requirement.

Social and Behavioral Science (3 semester credit hours)
Any three hours listed under this section in the list of core courses will satisfy this core requirement.

Economics (3 semester credit hours)
ECO 2013 Introductory Macroeconomics

World Society and Issues

(3 semester credit hours)
Any three hours listed under this section in the list of core courses will satisfy this core requirement.

In addition to the Core Curriculum requirements and requirements of the College of Business Common Body of Knowledge (CBK), all candidates for the degree must complete the following degree requirements.

    9 additional semester credit hours of upper-division courses in the College of Business, of which no more than 6 semester credit hours can be in any one discipline in the College, and at least 3 semester credit hours must be at the 4000 level.

Course Sequence Guide for B.B.A. Degree in General Business

This course sequence guide is designed to assist students in completing their UTSA undergraduate business degree requirements. This is merely a guide and students must satisfy other requirements of this catalog and meet with advisors in the College of Business Undergraduate Advising Center for individualized degree plans. Progress within this guide depends upon such factors as course availability, individual student academic preparation, student time management, work obligations, and individual financial considerations. Students may choose to take courses during Summer terms to reduce course loads during long semesters.
