Minor in Nonprofit Management

Students from any discipline may select a minor in Nonprofit Management. The Minor in Nonprofit Management provides the opportunity to prepare for leadership positions in social service, community, youth, environmental, medical, arts, and other nonprofit agencies.

All students pursuing a Minor in Nonprofit Management must complete 18 semester credit hours.

American Humanics National Certification in Nonprofit Management and Leadership

American Humanics (AH) is a national alliance of colleges, universities, and national nonprofit partners dedicated to educating, preparing and certifying professionals to lead and strengthen nonprofit organizations. Students pursuing AH certification are required to complete the courses for the Minor in Nonprofit Management, plus an additional 3 hours for a total of 21 semester credit hours.

NPO  4933  Internship in Nonprofit Management

In addition to the coursework, students are required to attend the American Humanics Management Institute and participate in the American Humanics Student Association for hands-on experience in volunteerism, event planning, marketing and fundraising.

To declare a Minor in Nonprofit Management, obtain advice, obtain lists of relevant courses, or seek approval of substitutions for course requirements, students should consult the College of Public Policy Advising Center (located on the Downtown Campus). For information about the American Humanics program, students should consult the program coordinator located in the Center for Policy Studies.
